Published: August 20, 2013, 5:00pm

Applewood Restaurant and Bar is closing its doors for good at 9 p.m. Aug. 31, allowing owner and chef Peter Gallin to focus on his catering business, which is in the same east Vancouver complex off Southeast 192nd Avenue and 20th Street.

Gallin has sold the restaurant portion of the business to Ryan Burns, who plans a September opening for Cinders Bar and Grill in the former Applewood Restaurant space at 2005 S.E. 192nd Ave.

Gallin plans to retain the Applewood name for his catering business, which he will continue operating through the transition.
