A robber walked into a downtown Vancouver branch of Chase Bank just before 5 p.m. Wednesday, presented a demand note and then fled through the north doors with some cash.

Vancouver police quickly formed a dragnet through downtown and searched for the bandit.

He was described as a thin white man in his mid- to late 30s, with a scruffy beard. He is tall — well over 6 feet, according to at least one witness — and wore a gray jacket and a white beanie with ear flaps, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian. He may have carried a bag.

The bank is at 1205 Broadway.

The suspect had not been found as of late Wednesday night.
