MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin reserve guard George Marshall has decided to transfer a year after making six starts as a freshman for coach Bo Ryan.

The third-year sophomore appeared in just two games this season and missed a few contests because of a concussion. He was a healthy scratch the last few games for the eighth-ranked Badgers, falling behind freshman Bronson Koenig as the first guard off the bench.

The program announced Marshall’s departure before the 70-64 win Saturday over Marquette. In a statement, Ryan offered warm wishes and said he would help Marshall in any way in the transition to a new school.

Marshall started the first six games at point guard last season in place of then-injured Josh Gasser before being replaced by Traevon Jackson.
