Dillard leads UALR over Jacksonville St. 75-70

TORTOLA, British Virgin Islands (AP) — Ben Dillard made 3 of 4 3-pointers and scored 18 points to lead Arkansas-Little Rock over Jacksonville State 75-70 on Friday night in the opening round of the BVI Tropical Shootout.

UALR (4-6) never trailed took its biggest lead of the game at 56-46 with 9:52 to go. Jacksonville State responded with a 14-4 run that tied the game 60-60 on Avery Moore’s 3-pointer with 5:54 left.

The Trojans took the lead back for good at 63-60 on James White’s 3-pointer. White grabbed 12 rebounds, Josh Hagins had 16 points and Will Neighbour scored 12. UALR was 8 of 12 from 3-point range and 54.2 percent from the field.

Darion Rackley led Jacksonville State (5-9) with 17 points and five assists. Brian Williams added 14 points.

UALR will face the Coppin State-Southern Miss winner for the tournament championship on Saturday.
