BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — Argentina completed a 5-0 sweep of Germany on Sunday in their first-round Davis Cup series.

The Argentines reached the quarterfinals on Saturday for the 12th straight time, taking an insurmountable 3-0 lead with a victory in doubles.

Sunday’s meaningless reverse singles matches were shortened to three-setters, with Juan Monaco defeating Tobias Kamke 6-4, 7-6 (2), and Carlos Berlocq winning 6-2, 6-4 against Christopher Kas. Argentina will face France in April in Buenos Aires in the quarterfinals.
