SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly says the class the Fighting Irish signed Wednesday reflects their return back to the college elite this past season.

Kelly says he won’t argue with analysts who call the recruiting class his best, saying the recruits fill some holes. The Irish added running backs Greg Bryant and Tarean Folston , four defensive backs and five offensive linemen. The class also includes highly touted linebacker Jaylon Smith from Fort Wayne. The Irish were still waiting to hear from defensive lineman Eddie Vanderdoes.

The Irish are expected to be at the 85-player scholarship limit for the first time in recent years, which Kelly says adds some much-needed depth. He says the Irish were limited in how hard they could practice this season because of depth problems.
