Mount St. Mary’s beats St. Francis Brooklyn 73-65

EMMITSBURG, Md. (AP) — Julian Norfleet scored 25 points to lead Mount St. Mary’s to its sixth straight home win, beating St. Francis Brooklyn 72-65 Saturday.

Shivaughn Wiggins added 11 and Raven Barber 10 for Mount St. Mary’s (14-13, 9-7 Northeast Conference), which won despite 29 points on six 3-pointers from St. Francis Brooklyn’s Ben Mockford.

Mount St. Mary’s had pulled ahead by 12, 53-41, on Norfleet’s jumper 7 minutes into the second half. St. Francis (11-16, 7-9), however, clawed back to within 62-59 on a Mockford 3-pointer with 3:34 remaining.

Norfleet answered with two free throws and St. Francis Brooklyn did not score again until Mockford’s three free throws at the 18-second mark. By then, the Mountaineers had built a commanding 70-60 lead.

Mount St. Mary’s made 23 of 30 free throws, compared to 10 of 14 for St. Francis Brooklyn, and scored 17 points off 15 turnovers.
