Houston defeats Texas-Pan American 96-71

HOUSTON (AP) — Joseph Young scored 25 points, leading five players in double figures, to give Houston a 96-71 victory over Texas Pan-American on Thursday night.

Young was 7 of 9 from 3-point range. Danuel House and J.J. Thompson scored 12 points apiece. TaShawn Thomas and Jherrod Stiggers added 10 apiece. Leon Gibson had eight points and a team-high eight rebounds. Thompson also had six assists for the Cougars (11-2).

Houston led 42-36 at halftime and never trailed in the second half. Houston shot 54.8 percent from the field for the game, while the Broncos shot 50.9 percent. Houston won the rebound battle 37-24.

Aaron Urbanus led the Broncos (7-10) with 14 points. Jesus Delgado scored 12, and Justin Leathers and Brandon Provost had 10 points apiece. Leathers had seven rebounds.
