Boys basketball: Skyview rallies past Rogers-Puyallup to improve to 6-0

With a one-point lead entering the fourth quarter, Skyview scored 24 points in the final eight minutes to defeat Rogers-Puyallup 70-61 and improve to 6-0.

Skyview’s Demaree Collins scored 10 of his team-high 23 points in the fourth and Malakai Weimer posted a double-double with 19 points and 20 rebounds.

Isaac Briggs and Treyshawn Weatherspoon each had 14 points to lead the Rams.

UNION 61, KENTWOOD 48 — Yanni Fassilis paced the Titans with 19 points in a non-league win at home.

Union’s Evan Manville (12 points), Kody Holcomb (11) and Samair Thompson (10) also reached double figures in scoring.

Kentwood’s Brandon Tagle and Blake Stempniak led the Conquerors with 14 points apiece.

HOCKINSON 72, EVERGREEN-SEATTLE 67 — The Hawks outscored Evergreen of Seattle 25-18 in the final quarter to pick up a non-league road win.

Igor Povazhniuk led Hockinson with 22 points, Logan Wall and Grant Gumringer each chipped in 14 points and Daniel Fedorenko added 11 points.

Hockinson went 21 of 27 from the free-throw line, compared to 12 attempts for Evergreen.

Evergreen’s Mathew Fiso scored a game-high 24 points.

UNIVERSITY 79, PRAIRIE 40 — Prairie gave up a season-high 79 points to University High of Spokane Valley at the GESA Winter Shootout in Wenatchee.

Tyson Davis led the Falcons with 14 points and Bailey Kousonsavath chipped in 11 points.

The Titans, undefeated through seven games, were led by Tyler Nelson’s 14 points, plus 12 points apiece from AJ Wolfe and Gabe Heimbigner.
