La Salle pulls away from Penn early for 74-57 win

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Ramon Galloway and Tyreek Duren scored 17 points apiece as La Salle used a big first-half run to pull away from Pennsylvania en route to a 74-57 win Saturday.

Tyrone Garland added 15 points and Jerrell Wright posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Explorers (10-3), who are now 2-0 this season against Big 5 foes. La Salle also beat Villanova 77-74 in overtime on Nov. 25.

Leading 17-16, the Explorers launched a 15-2 run, with Garland hitting three 3-pointers and scoring 11 points in the spurt.

La Salle, which led by as many as 24 in the second half, hit 9 of 22 from long range in its final game before starting Atlantic 10 Conference play.

Reserve Tony Hicks scored 14 points and Dau Jok had 11 rebounds for the Quakers (2-11), who shot 36.1 percent (22 of 61) in losing their sixth straight game.
