Texas Southern holds off Prairie View A&M 65-60

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (AP) — Omar Strong scored 19 points and Aaron Clayborn added 16 points and nine rebounds Sunday night to lead Texas Southern to a 65-60 victory over Prairie View A&M.

The Tigers (3-13, 2-1 SWAC) have won two in a row after ending an 11-game losing streak with win against Alcorn State on Friday. Ray Penn added 13 points for TSU. Strong hit four of the Tigers’ six 3-pointers.

Texas Southern trailed 28-16 with 5 minutes remaining in the first half, but managed to pull within 36-34 at the break.

Demondre Chapman led Prairie View (5-11, 0-3) with 18 points and eight rebounds. The Panthers have lost six in a row.

Jourdan DeMuynck scored 13 points and Carl Blair scored 11 for Prairie View, playing its first home game since Dec. 7.
