BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) — Johnathan Jordan scored 15 points and dished out a career-high 11 assists Saturday night, helping Texas A&M-Corpus Christi snap a 12-game losing streak with a 62-56 victory over free-falling Lamar.

Jordan, a sophomore, added five rebounds and three steals for the Islanders (2-12, 1-3 Southland), who also got 13 points and nine rebounds from Will Nelson and 10 points from Hameed Ali.

Donley Minor scored 13 for the Cardinals (2-15, 0-5), who lost their fifth straight. Stan Brown and Donnell Minton had 12 points apiece. Lamar gave up 24 points off its 15 turnovers.

The Islanders never trailed but saw Lamar pull within 57-54 on Keilan Blanks’ layup with 1:26 left. But Jordan made five free throws in the final 23 seconds to seal the victory.

The Cardinals still lead the all-time series with A&M-Corpus Christi, 15-5.
