Dartmouth clobbers D-III Colby-Sawyer 80-42

HANOVER, N.H. (AP) — Tyler Melville scored 16 points and Dartmouth cruised to an 80-42 rout of Colby-Sawyer Thursday night in nonconference play.

The Big Green (4-11), who’d lost eight of their previous nine games, got healthy against Colby-Sawyer, a Division III school in New Hampshire. The Chargers (5-9) fell behind 36-17 at halftime and were never in it.

Melville hit 5 of 10 shots from the field, including 3 of 6 3-point attempts. Gabas Maldunas also scored in double-figures with 14 points. He just missed recording a double-double with nine rebounds.

The Big Green outshot Colby-Sawyer from the floor, sinking 27 of 47 shots (57.4 percent). Colby-Sawyer made 17 of 59 field goal attempts (28.8 percent).

Kyle Nelson was the only Charger in double-figures with 11 points, including 3 treys.

Dartmouth outrebounded the Chargers 42-25. The Big Green had a huge free-throw advantage, going 18 for 25. Colby-Sawyer was 1 for 3.
