MILWAUKEE (AP) — Austin Arians scored a career-high 19 points off the bench, helping Milwaukee to its first conference victory of the season, 69-57 over Cleveland State on Thursday night.

Arians, a freshman, was 6 of 12 from the field, including five 3-pointers, and also pulled down nine rebounds. Paris Gulley added 17 points and eight rebounds for the Panthers (5-13, 1-3 Horizon League) and has now scored in double figures in 10 of his 12 games since missing the first six games of the season with a broken hand. Jordan Aaron dished out 11 assists.

Bryn Forbes had 16 points and Charlie Lee 15 for the Vikings (10-9, 2-3), and Marlin Mason grabbed 14 rebounds. Cleveland State shot just 34 percent from the floor.

Arians’ 3-pointer with 10:35 left before halftime put the Panthers ahead to stay. Milwaukee led 28-21 at halftime and by as many as 20 in the second half.
