MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — Veteran rider Kevin Windham is retiring from motocross.

The 34-year-old announced before Saturday’s Supercross race at Anaheim, Calif., that he was done racing after a career that lasted more than 20 years.

Windham, from Centreville, Miss., started his career back in the days of motocross stars Jeremy McGrath and Ricky Carmichael and continued racing with the new crop of stars. He had a streak of more than 100 starts end last year when he separated both shoulders, broke his wrist and suffered a concussion during a race.

Windham never won a series title, but finished second three times and won 18 races.
