KENT — King County is closing a 99-year-old bridge over the Green River in Kent on Wednesday.

The Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce reports the bridge will be demolished in August.

Engineering inspections found the bridge is structurally deficient and prone to fractures. It carried 2,500 vehicles a day.

The county expects to close nearly 35 unsafe bridges over the next 25 years.
