Ex-NBC Sports chairman Ebersol gets WISE award

NEW YORK (AP) — Former chairman of NBC Sports Dick Ebersol will receive the WISE Champion Award for his support of women in sports.

Women in Sports & Events will present the award to Ebersol on Tuesday at its annual awards luncheon in New York. Ebersol is being honored for expanding TV coverage of women’s sports during the Olympics since the mid-1990s. The award is given annually to a male executive.

Sharon Byers, senior vice president of sports and entertainment marketing for Coca-Cola North America will receive the Women of the Year award along with Danielle Maged of StubHub and Carol Stiff of espnW.

Maged is the global head of business development of StubHub, and Stiff is the vice president of content for the ESPN website devoted to women’s sports.

WISE is a resource for women in the sports and events industry, with 10 chapters across the country.
