Vancouver police searched for a burglar Monday afternoon in the 2800 block of Grand Boulevard. Area residents were advised to stay inside while officers canvassed the area with a K-9 team.
A woman came home just before 3 p.m. and saw a man running in her backyard. Police confirmed that a window was broken and someone had gained access to the home, said Kim Kapp, spokeswoman for the Vancouver Police Department.
CRESA sent out a reverse-911 call to residents of the area, telling people to stay inside for about half an hour. People who had registered mobile phones, VoIP phones and email addresses on CRESA’s notification website also received a notification.
“Obviously, we don’t want anyone to come into contact with a K-9” or leave their home unsecured, Kapp said.
