JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi’s only PGA Tour event is safe for now.

Sanderson Farms has agreed to be the title sponsor for the newly-named Sanderson Farms Championship, which will be played at Annandale Golf Club in nearby Madison, on July 18-21.

The tournament has been a part of the PGA Tour since 1968. It has had several name changes over the years, and lost its previous title sponsor Viking Range Corporation after the 2011 tournament. A conglomeration of companies sponsored the 2012 event, which was called the True South Classic.

Sanderson Farms — the third largest poultry producer in the United States — has agreed to a one-year sponsorship with an option to extend.

Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant says the tournament has a $22 million economic impact on the Jackson area.
