Prep highlights: Rayburn pitches River over rival Skyview

Seth Rayburn pitched seven strong innings on Wednesday and Columbia River used a three-run third inning to beat visiting Skyview 4-2 in a non-league baseball game.

Rayburn scattered seven hits and struck out three, limiting the Storm to single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Oscar Golberg hit a two-run single and Andrew Haley followed with a two-out double as Columbia River (1-2) took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Haley had two of River’s six hits, and Trey Walker scored a pair of runs.

For Skyview (1-1), Jordan Freese went 3 for 3 with an RBI and Alec Cheney had two hits including a double and knocked in a run.

Stars of the day

Boys soccer: Carter Johnson had two goals and an assist in Skyview’s 4-0 win over Mark Morris.

Boys soccer: Nathaniel Cheney had a goal and an assist in Union’s 2-0 win over Hudson’s Bay.

Baseball: Jay Becker threw four shutout innings, giving up one hit, and he was 2 for 4 with three runs, two RBI and a double in Battle Ground’s 9-2 win over Mountain View.

Softball: Teagan Cowles went 3 for 5 with two triples, four RBI, two runs and four stolen bases in Columbia River’s 8-7 win over Union in eight innings. Morgan Spieth was 3 for 4 with two triples, two runs, an RBI and stolen base for Union.
