Frenzel clinches Nordic combined title

OSLO, Norway (AP) — Eric Frenzel won the Nordic combined World Cup title Friday, winning a race for the sixth time this season.

The German outsprinted Akiro Watabe of Japan in the 10-kilometer cross-country portion of the race to increase his season total to 954 points. Defending champion Jason Lamy Chappuis of France is second with 718.

Frenzel also recently won a world championship gold medal in Val de Fiemme, Italy.

Frenzel was second in the ski jump and went out 8 seconds behind leader Yoshito Watabe of Japan, who finished third. Lamy Chappuis finished fourth.
