Shields, Wilson hit hard as Royals beat Angels

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Starter James Shields and C.J. Wilson each got hit hard Friday and the Kansas City Royals outslugged the Los Angeles Angels 13-9.

Shields was tagged for nine runs and 11 hits by the Angels in five innings.

Mike Trout hit consecutive doubles off the wall against Shields in the first two innings. Josh Hamilton had a two-run triple and Mark Trumbo doubled and singled.

Wilson allowed eight runs and eight hits over 2 2-3 innings in his fourth spring start. He gave up homers to Eric Hosmer and Jeff Francoeur in a seven-run third.
