ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — Max Novak scored twice and Union won its second straight ECAC hockey championship by beating Brown 3-1 on Saturday night.

Union (21-12-15) has won six straight games. The fourth-seeded Dutchmen earned the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, where they will attempt to make a second consecutive run to the Frozen Four.

Union scored the first two goals, the second on a snap shot by Novak that beat goalie Anthony Borelli from the high slot through traffic with 13 seconds remaining in the first period.

Novak scored again on a rebound in the second to make it 3-0.

Brown (16-14-6) got its lone goal on the power play in the second period when Dennis Robertson wristed a shot past Troy Grosenick, who made 31 saves. The seventh-seeded Bears were playing in their first conference championship game since 1993 after upsetting top-seeded Quinnipiac 4-0 on Friday.
