Leon Siofele rushed for 245 yards and one touchdown as Union held off a late charge by Skyview to beat the Storm 28-25 in a Class 4A Greater St. Helens League game at McKenzie Stadium.

With the win, Union (7-2) clinched the No. 2 seed to the state preliminary round, where the Titans will travel next week to face Eastlake or Issaquah. Skyview is the No. 3 seed and will travel to face Curtis of University Place.

Siofele had 168 yards rushing in the first half as Union took a 21-10 lead into halftime.

Skyview closed within 21-17 in the third quarter, but Union extended the advantage to 28-17 on Caleb Browning’s 9-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter.

Skyview marched 80 yards on 10 plays in the closing minutes of the game to close within 28-25 on Jacob Dennis’ 2-yard touchdown pass from Zac Shomler with 2:09 left.

But Union recovered the ensuing onside kick and ran out the clock.

Skyview’s Nate Arriola, who missed the Storm’s previous two games with a hamstring injury, rushed for 111 yards on 13 carries. But he left the game after rushing for 13 yards on the first play of the third quarter and never returned.
