Columbia River and Prairie locked up berths to the 3A state volleyball tournament thanks to wins Friday at the 3A bi-district tournament at Auburn Mountainview High School.

The Chieftains take on Auburn Mountainview in the semifinals at noon today.

Prairie won its first-round game 3-0 over Mount Tahoma, then survived a thrilling five-game quarterfinal match against Kennedy to reach state.

Scores were 25-21, 25-19, 22-25, 24-26, 21-19.

Prairie will face Timberline in a noon semifinal.

The championship is at 3:30 p.m.

Mountain View dropped its first-round game 3-0 to Enumclaw and will play Bonney Lake at 10 a.m. in a loser-out match.

If Mountain View wins, it will play again at noon in the fifth-place semifinal. The fifth-place final is at 3:30 p.m. for a spot to state.

4A bi-district — Skyview survived a loser-out game late Friday, defeating Gig Harbor 3-2 at Kentwood High School.
