WASHINGTON (AP) — Greg McGhee ran for two touchdowns and passed for two more as Howard overcame early miscues to defeat Savannah State 42-14 on Saturday.

McGhee passed for 326 yards and added a game-high 148 yards rushing with TD runs of 53 and 27 yards for Howard (4-6, 3-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Anthony Philyaw ran for two touchdowns in the second quarter and McGhee hit Matthew Colvin from the 6 as the Bison rallied from a 7-0 deficit with 20 points in the quarter.

Savannah State (1-9, 0-6) scored first on a 32-yard pass from Leon Prunty to Simon Heyward. Prunty finished with 152 yards passing and Heyward had 99 receiving.
