Kent St pulls away from Saint Peter’s, wins 75-58

KENT, Ohio (AP) — Mark Henniger made all five of his field goal attempts and scored 13 points to lead Kent State to a 75-58 win over Saint Peter’s on Sunday.

Darren Goodson, who finished with 12 points and five assists, scored 10 points in the first half as Kent State (2-1) took a 33-29 lead into the break.

Saint Peter’s (0-2) kept the game close until a conventional three-point play by Derek Jackson with 9:12 left sparked a 12-0 run by the Flashes, which pushed the Kent State lead to 66-46 with just under five minutes remaining.

Kent State shot 51.9 percent (28 of 54) from the field and 41.2 percent (7 of 17) from behind the 3-point line. They committed just eight turnovers.

Kris Brewer added 10 points in the win.

Marvin Dominique paced the Peacocks with 15 points and six rebounds. Trevis Wyche had 11 points and eight assists.
