Prep roundup: Jaiden Bea helps Washougal girls pull away from Ridgefield

Jaiden Bea had 23 points and 17 rebounds as the Washougal pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 53-39 win over Ridgefield in a 2A Greater St. Helens League girls basketball game on Friday.

Washougal led 36-31 after three quarters.

“We were with all the way,” Ridgefield coach Billy McKinney said. “This is our third game this week. This was a makeup game from December. But the girls played well.”

Kelli Krsul paced the Spudders with 13 points, Avery Wilson had 10 points and Morgan Goode pulled down 10 rebounds.

Chloe Johnson and Savea Mansfield added 11 points each for the Panthers, who improved to 5-0 in the 2A Greater St. Helens League.

Girls basketball

UNION 51, BATTLE GROUND 30 — Adrian Wright scored 10 points and Grace Burchett added nine points in another balanced game for the Titans in their 4A Greater St. Helens League opener.

HERITAGE 42, MOUNTAIN VIEW 39 — Keanna Salavea scored 14 of Heritage’s 16 points in the third quarter as the Timberwolves built a big lead and held on for a 3A Greater St. Helens League win.

Salavea finished with a game-high 26 points. Heritage led 38-24 after three quarters and held off a strong Thunder finish.

Katelyn Henderson scored 17 for Mountain View, and Nina Peterson added 12.

HUDSON’S BAY 58, COLUMBIA RIVER 34 — Mahaila Harrison scored 19 points as the Eagles dominated the first and third quarters.

Bay outscored River 22-4 in the first and 25-3 in the third, when the Eagles had their starters in. Paytin Ballard and Aniyah Hampton added 11 points each for Bay.

Peyton Dukes had seven points to lead River.

R.A. LONG 66, WOODLAND 46 — Miranda Lomax scored 16 points and Breyelle Box added 15 as R.A Long outraced a depleted Woodland squad.

R.A. Long led 21-10 after one quarter and 34-14 by halftime.

Jayla Clark added 11 for R.A. Long. Sydney George had 14 for Woodland, and Riley Stading added 13.

Boys basketball

PRAIRIE 71, EVERGREEN 65 — Hayden Rose scored 34 points and Bailey Kousonsavath added 15 points as the Falcons got their first 3A Greater St. Helens League.

Delo Doutrive led Evergreen with 21 points.

MARK MORRIS 84, HOCKINSON 60 — Coby Parlin led the Monarch with 25 points and Deacon Dietz added 17. Grant Gumringer had 13 points for Hockinson.

COLUMBIA RIVER 57, HUDSON’S BAY 54 — Columbia River hit five 3-pointers in the first quarter, helping the Rapids overcome a 31-point game by Joey Gordon.

River jumped out to a 24-8 lead after one quarter. Gordon had 11 of Bay’s 18 second quarter points as the Eagles worked to close the gap. Gordon hit 13 of 14 free throws.

Alden Fay and Adam Reeder had 15 points each as River held off the Bay charge. Aaron Hoey added 11 points.
