Kresl has 19 to lead Colorado over Rice 75-58

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Lexy Kresl scored 19 points to lead No. 14 Colorado to a 75-58 victory over Rice to win the Omni Hotel Classic championship Saturday night.

Jen Reese had 13 points, and Brittany Wilson added 11 for Colorado (6-0).

Rice was led by Jessica Kuster with 30 points, more than half the total for the Owls (4-5).

Colorado dominated the boards, pulling down 42 rebounds to 26 for Rice. The Buffalos also outshot Rice, making 50.9 percent from the floor compared to Rice’s 40 percent.

The Owls opened the scoring when Kuster hit a jumper, but Colorado quickly took the lead on a Reese layup, followed by a Rachel Hargin layup and then Kresl hit a 3-pointer for a 7-2 advantage. Colorado, leading 33-29 at the half, took command in the second period, outscoring the Owls, 42-29.

Rice defeated Samford 57-52 while Colorado blew past South Alabama 94-61 on Friday.
