ATLANTA (AP) — Jordan Schafer has been removed from the Braves’ lineup against the Mets due to a left quadriceps contusion.

B.J. Upton has replaced Schafer in Wednesday’s lineup and will hit leadoff and play center field. Schafer fouled a ball off his left leg in his pinch-hit appearance in Tuesday night’s 3-1 win over New York.

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez is resting shortstop Andrelton Simmons, third baseman Chris Johnson and catcher Brian McCann Wednesday. Paul Janish is starting at shortstop, Elliot Johnson is at third base and Gerald Laird is catching.
