BURLINGTON (AP) — Authorities say a construction worker’s arm was crushed while working on the new section of the Interstate 5 bridge over the Skagit River.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports that the worker was walking on a catwalk over the new section of the bridge when a large piece of equipment fell on him Thursday afternoon.

Burlington Police Department officer Jed Cates says the worker was taken to Skagit Valley Hospital for treatment.

Construction crews are building a new section of the I-5 bridge over the Skagit River after a span collapsed in May.
