Washougal — Donations from members of the Camas-Washougal Rotary Club helped fill 200 backpacks for students in need of supplies for the school year. Rotary gave the backpacks — including pencils, rulers, folders and more — to the Camas and Washougal school districts last month. The value of the donations was more than $3,000. “Nine years ago this program donated only 25 backpacks to students in need, today that number has risen to 200 thanks to support from the community and other Rotarians,” said Rotary’s Backpack Program Chair Jim Curry in a press release.
