Week 1 high school fall athlete of the week vote

Weekly vote is sponsored by Athletes Corner

Nominees for high school fall athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Sept. 14. Voting will conclude at 8 p.m. Thursday with results published in Friday’s Columbian.

SHANNON BOYLE, RIDGEFIELD VOLLEYBALL: Boyle had 29 kills, 12 digs, 7 blocks and 2 aces as the Spudders went 1-1 against two larger schools.

NICOLE GOECKE, PRAIRIE GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: The senior placed second at the UW Sundodger Invitational in Seattle in a time of 17:44.

RILEY HEIN, CAMAS BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: The senior placed third overall at the Pier Park Invitational in Portland in time of 16:01.

MADISON SORENSON, WOODLAND GIRLS SOCCER: The goalkeeper recorded 16 saves and two shutouts as she helped the Beavers open Trico League play 3-0.

SPENCER TIBBITS, FORT VANCOUVER BOYS GOLF: The freshman shot a 3-over-par 75 on a tough layout at Tri-Mountain to win the Jeff Hudson Invitational by one stroke.
