The Worship in Pink Weekend, when congregations and community organizations host events to raise awareness about breast cancer, is scheduled for Oct. 11-13.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Legacy Health are teaming up with the groups to host numerous events in Southwest Washington and Portland.

Here are a couple events planned in the Portland-Vancouver area:

  • Praises in Pink Concert: 7:20 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at Vancouver Avenue First Baptist Church, 3138 N. Vancouver Ave., Portland. The concert is free and will feature Vancouver Avenue Jubilation Mass Choir, Sisters in Survival Breast Cancer Choir and others.

  • Gospel Brunch Celebration in Pink: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Red Lion Hotel Vancouver at the Quay, 100 Columbia St., Vanc. Tickets are $25 and available at www.tickettomato.com/event.php?event_id=2040. Tickets at the door are $45.

Proceeds from the brunch will benefit the NW Women’s Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides affordable health and dental care for self-employed women in Vancouver, Camas, Washougal and Battle Ground.
