Clark baseball wins two at Mt. Hood

The Clark College baseball team won three of four games from Mt. Hood after sweeping an NWAACC South Region doubleheader on Monday.

The Penguins won 4-2 and 3-0 at Gresham, Ore., to complete the series that was delayed by rain.

Union grad Colton Krueger (4-0) pitched a complete game shut out with five strikeouts, no walks and six hits allowed. His season ERA is now 1.80.

Kyle Vanderkin went 4 for 4 with two doubles and two RBI in Game 2. He was also 2 for 3 with two RBI in the first game.

Nick Gagner (2-0, 1.44 ERA) was the winner in the opening game with Layne Sutten getting his fourth save.

Next for Clark (15-7, 5-3) is a four-game series with Chemeketa. The Penguins are at Salem, Ore., on Friday followed by a home doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
