Early design options for the Northeast 137th Avenue corridor from Northeast 49th Street to Fourth Plain Boulevard will be on display at an open house 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Burnt Bridge Creek Elementary School, 14619 N.E. 49th St.

Considerations include whether to use traffic signals or roundabouts, access to frontage properties, a crossing over Burnt Bridge Creek and amenities for bicyclists and pedestrians.

The public is welcome to see design options and speak to members of the project team.

Upgrading the street to current urban standards is expected to enhance safety and minimize delays caused by turning vehicles on the busy north-south arterial, according to a news release from the city’s public works department.

The city has improved Northeast 137th Avenue from Mill Plain Boulevard to Northeast 49th Street, but hasn’t yet got money for right-of-way acquisition and construction for the next phase.
