Local agencies have recovered a body tonight from the Columbia River system near Vancouver, said Sgt. Mike Davis, Vancouver Police Department spokesman.

Davis said the body was spotted in the water near the point where the Willamette River meets the Columbia.

The body was brought to a Vancouver dock, where the Clark County Medical Examiner’s office took custody at about 6:40 p.m.

Authorities did not indicate whether there was an apparent cause of death, an identity of the victim, or how long the body had been in the water.

The regional 911 log shows several calls at about 6:09 p.m. today involving a drowning/diving/scuba accident in the Columbia River, near the flushing channel.
