An application has been submitted to build a supplementary retail project at the site of a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market grocery store under construction at East Fourth Plain and Grand boulevards in Vancouver.

The proposal, submitted by Portland-based Baysinger Partners Architecture, includes a 6,500-square-foot, one-story building with 4,000 square feet of fast-food restaurant space and 2,500 square feet of retail space.

No tenants have been announced for the proposed development, which will be part of a retail complex anchored by a 42,000-square-foot Wal-Mart store. The grocery- and pharmacy-only venue is expected to open in May, according to officials from Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
