Clark College — Sixteen girls were selected out of 30 who auditioned last December for the Vancouver Volcanoes dance team.
Each dancer had to learn a routine, perform two solo dances before a panel of judges and do an interview.
“It is a pretty demanding process for these young ladies,” said Desiree Goode, the team’s dance coach since 2007. Rehearsals began in mid-January and the Volcanoes’ basketball season will begin in late April.
Over the years, 30-plus Volcanoes dancers have gone on to dance for many professional sports organization’s dance teams, including the Seahawk Sea Gals, the Blazer Dancers and the Winterhawk Rosebuds.
This year is the 10th anniversary of the Vancouver Volcanoes professional basketball team.
