Northern Illinois over Bethune-Cookman 65-51

DEKALB, Ill. (AP) — Darrell Bowie scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Northern Illinois to a 65-51 victory over Bethune-Cookman on Friday night.

Aaric Armstead had 11 points with five rebounds for the Huskies and Aaron Armstead came off the bench to add 10.

The Huskies (6-6) started the game with an 8-0 run and went into the break leading 33-22. A Pete Rakocevic layup at 5:04 in the second gave the team a 19-point advantage, 60-41. Northern Illinois went 46.3 from the field overall.

The Wildcats sent their opponents to the line 25 times during the contest where the Huskies hit 78 percent.

Down by 18 with just over a minute to play, Clemmye Owens sank a pair of 3-pointers for the Wildcats (2-15), who posted their thirteenth-straight loss. Owens led the Wildcats with 19 points and five rebounds.
