A man whose car reportedly crashed Tuesday into a Multnomah County (Ore.) Sheriff’s Office patrol car north of Battle Ground was cited for allegedly driving while intoxicated, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The crash occurred at about 5 a.m. when a 1997 Dodge Neon traveling north on state Highway 503 veered off the road and crashed into the deputy’s Ford Crown Victoria, which was stopped at Northeast Rock Creek Road, waiting to make a left turn to go south on the highway, said WSP Trooper Will Finn.
Neither driver was injured.
Multnomah County Deputy Bruce McDowell told troopers that the driver of the Neon, Edward Varnum, 39, of Vancouver, was possibly intoxicated. Finn said troopers responded and cited Varnum for suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants.
The Dodge Neon had some damage, but there was no damage to the patrol vehicle, Finn said.
