Cal Poly tops Cal State Northridge 62-52

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) — David Nwaba had 16 points and Kyle Odister added 14 as Cal Poly took down Cal State Northridge 62-52 on Thursday night.

Cal Poly (7-9, 3-0 Big West Conference) matched its best-ever start in Big West play, closing the game on a 10-2 run.

Odister’s 3-pointer with 1:57 left gave the Mustangs a 55-50 lead and Nwaba led a 7 for 8 free throw effort for Cal Poly in the last 1:14, making 5 of his 6 attempts. Cal State Northridge (10-8, 2-1) missed three 3-point attempts in the last minute of the game as the Mustangs pulled away.

Nwaba scored 10 of his 16 points at the line while Odister was 4 of 4 from long range. Chris Eversley had nine points and nine rebounds for Cal Poly.

Stephan Hicks scored 16 points to lead Cal State Northridge. Tre Hale-Edmerson added 13 points and Josh Greene had 10.
