HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Wise Dan has won Horse of the Year honors at the Eclipse Awards, becoming the sixth back-to-back winner.

Wise Dan won six of his seven starts in 2013, all against Grade 1 or Grade 2 company and always being sent off at less than even-money odds. He capped his year by rallying to win the Breeders’ Cup Mile, pushing his 2013 earnings to just over $2.75 million.

Mucho Macho Man and Will Take Charge were the other finalists.

Wise Dan also won Eclipse honors on Saturday in the Older Male and Male Turf Horse divisions, just as he did in 2012. Wise Dan joins Secretariat, Forego, Affirmed, Cigar and Curlin as consecutive horse-of-the-year winners.

Other top Eclipse Awards went to trainer Todd Pletcher and jockey Javier Castellano.
