American U beats Boston U 86-56 with hot shooting

WASHINGTON (AP) — Jesse Reed scored 20 points as American University made over 70 percent of its field goals and recorded its seventh-straight Patriot League victory with an 86-56 win against Boston University on Wednesday night.

The Eagles (11-7, 7-0) set a school record of 71.4 percent shooting (30 of 42) from the floor.

Darius Gardner made a career-high five 3-pointers and American U combined for 11 of 14 from distance. The Eagles dominated offensively with 22 assists and shot over 70 percent on free throws and 3-pointers as five players finished in double figures — Gardner 18, Tony Wroblicky 17, Marko Vasic 11 and John Schoof 10.

American U trailed by 11 to start the game, but ended the first half on a 29-10 run to go up 37-27 at the break.

Boston U (13-7, 6-1) made 16 of 50 field goals and was led by Maurice Watson Jr. with 15 points.
