A man who allegedly drove tired and without glasses escaped serious injury in a single-vehicle crash on state Route 500 early this morning.

Levorne Akles, 53, of Kelso was driving a 1992 Cadillac Deville east on the highway in the left lane when he swerved to the left and collided with a concrete jersey barrier, according to Washington State Patrol.

The crash was reported at 3:18 a.m. near Thurston Avenue in Vancouver.

Akles was taken to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview as a precaution, according to state patrol.

Troopers said that Akles was driving without glasses and was tired while driving, both contributing to the crash. He was cited for second-degree negligent driving, driving with no insurance and hit and run.
