A man died and a woman was seriously injured Saturday night in a two-vehicle, hit-and-run crash in Salmon Creek that may have involved an intoxicated driver, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
At about 11 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to the crash, which was near the intersection of Northeast 29th Avenue and 134th Street, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office. Deputies said a man and a woman from one vehicle suffered serious injuries in the collision, and the man did not survive. The woman was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.
A driver and passenger from the other vehicle fled the scene on foot, according to deputies, who said the fleeing driver appeared to cause the crash. The fleeing driver and passenger were later found trying to get a ride and were taken into custody, according to the press release.
“Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the collision,” according to the press release. The agency’s traffic unit is investigating the crash.
