Pipeline construction prompts lane closures in Ridgefield

Pioneer Street will undergo a few lane closures this summer as construction crews continue their work on a new pipeline intended to support commercial and industrial development.

The line, called the Discovery Corridor Wastewater Transmission System, will transport water from the area around the Ridgefield Interstate 5 junction to the Salmon Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant. The Clark Regional Wastewater District expects construction to wrap up by 2016.

The first lane closure will be Wednesday, on a 700-foot section of Pioneer Street. A single lane will be closed heading east from North 50th Place as crews install water monitoring piezometers. Drivers should expect delays.

Later this summer, crews will close Pioneer Street over two weekends. Those dates have not been set.

Construction in the Ridgefield Junction area will continue through the fall. Partial lane closures have also been planned for North 45th Avenue, South 56th Place and South Sixth Way.
