Cascade Pacific Council of the Boy Scouts of America is awarding three local adult volunteers the Silver Beaver Award. The award is presented for distinguished service to young people within a local Boy Scouts of America Council. It is the highest national award that can be presented by a local council.

The volunteers, Alan Davison, Ron Murphy and Clarence Prestwich, were honored Feb. 27 at a presentation ceremony in Damascus, Ore.

Davison, registered with Troop 328, is active with Fort Vancouver District Committee and is an assistant district commissioner. He is a regular fixture at monthly roundtable training and focuses much of his attention to the recruitment of Cub Scout-age boys. He also spends time at the Boy Scout information booth at the Clark County Fair.

Murphy, who serves as a unit commissioner and a primary trainer for leaders of venture crews, and promotes the venturing program throughout the district, is registered with Venture Crew 511. He works with the High Adventure program in his unit and for all older Boy Scouts in the Fort Vancouver District.

Prestwich, registered with Varsity Team 25, has been a volunteer for 32 years while his career has moved him around the country. He has been a scoutmaster, assistant scoutmaster or varsity coach ensuring the Boy Scouts in his area have a quality program and opportunity for adventure and personal growth.
