Week 6 spring sports high school athlete of the week nominees

Nominees for high school spring sports athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending May 3. Voting will conclude at 8 p.m. Thursday with results published in Friday’s Columbian.

TYLER ARMSTRONG, PRAIRIE BASEBALL: Armstrong threw a four-hit shutout against Hudson’s Bay and went 5 for 10 from the plate with two doubles and two RBI as the Falcons went 4-0 last week.

ALEXA EFRAIMSON, CAMAS GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD: Efraimson won the 1,500 meters at the Nike/Jesuit Twilight meet in 4:21.1, the second-fastest 1,500 run this high school season in the country.

MARCUS GAYLOR, COLUMBIA RIVER BOYS TRACK AND FIELD: Gaylor placed second in the 100 meter elite race at the Nike/Jesuit Twilight (10.96) on Friday, then the 100 (11.08) and 200 (22.23) at the Shelton Invitational on Saturday.

TAYLOR HARTLEY, BATTLE GROUND GOLF: Hartley shot a 2-over-par 38 at The Cedars in a match against Skyview and won medalist honors with a 46 in a match against Heritage.

MORGAN SPIETH, UNION SOFTBALL: Spieth went 11 for 16 with five runs, a double, three triples and 13 RBI in four games for the Titans last week.
