Pickup in fatal I-5 crash was stolen from Portland

EUGENE, Ore. — The pickup truck involved in a fatal crash on Interstate 5 south of Eugene had been stolen in the Portland area.

Oregon State Police say the pickup hit a disabled big rig on the shoulder Tuesday morning.

A passenger in the pickup died at the scene. She was identified as 22-year-old Christina Marie Armstrong. KVAL reports she had recently moved to Portland from Cape Coral, Fla.

The pickup driver, 28-year-old Joseph Dana Theriault of Portland, was treated at a Springfield hospital and booked into the Lane County Jail on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
